Welcome to Rolly Poly Studios, a vibrant ceramic studio in Queens, New York. Here, two talented sisters, Mara and Caitlin, have joined forces to create functional pottery that is both playful and beautiful. With a passion for spreading joy, they have dedicated themselves to bringing fun and whimsical designs to the masses. Their studio radiates with colors and laughter. Each piece they carefully craft carries with it the sisters' mission: to put a smile on people's faces through their unique and playful pottery. Whether it's a cheerful mug to brighten up your morning or a quirky vase to liven up your living space, Rolly Poly Studios, is where functional art meets pure happiness.

Mara is a ceramicist and illustrator creating whimsical art. She goes by The One Named Mara (@theonenamedmara) and has been building her brand throughout the last three years. Mara began making ceramics when she first took a class as an undergrad in 2018. She instantly fell in love and hasn’t stopped creating since!

Mara has experience teaching wheel and hand building classes, from age 5-75+! She has tabled at fairs across NYC and Long Island, selling her pottery and illustration goods.

She is an avid lover of snails, the Peanuts, and anything cute. Her interests have influence on her work and have created their own whimsical and fun world. She is excited to get to know you through Rolly Poly Studios and show you what she has in store!

Caitlin is a mixed media artist and recent MFA graduate. She works in ceramics, wood, paint and graphite. She is a published children's book author and illustrator. Her debut title, The ABC’s of What I Can Be, was reviewed by Kirkus, School Library Journal, and Booklist. Her work has been shown in galleries in Queens, Manhattan, Long Island City, and Portland, OR.

She began working in ceramics in 2021 during her time in grad school. She loves the flexibility and versatility of the material. She has experience teaching art courses for ages 3-14 years old. She has a love for making moving objects that are unique and functional.

She is a lover of all things surreal, ants, and humor. These interests have deeply influenced her work. She is excited to get to know you through Rolly Poly Studios and show you what she has in store. (@cait.mcdonagh.art)
